Tesco opens Express store in Doughiska  

Tesco Ireland has today opened the doors to a Tesco Express in Doughiska, Co Galway. The newly refurbished store was officially opened this morning by store manager, Kelvin Farragher, who welcomed the first customers into the 3,000 square foot store which is bringing employment and choice to the local community.

The Tesco Express will offer customers an extensive range of quality fresh Irish foods and will also feature produce from several local Galway suppliers including Soho Bakehouse, Kevin Hughes Potatoes and Corrib Eggs. The Doughiska store will employ 16 people and will be managed by Kelvin Farragher who has been with Tesco for more than a decade. 

Geoff Byrne, Chief Operating Officer, Tesco Ireland said: “I’m delighted to be in Doughiska today to see the doors open on our latest store. We welcome Doughiska to our store network and look forward to playing a big part in the local community for many years to come.”

We have put in a lot of work to ensure that the customer experience is of the highest standard. We are all really looking forward to getting to know the local community here in Doughiska.”

Through Low Everyday Prices, customers can be assured of great value on their shopping, while also getting rewarded with Clubcard points. Low Everyday Prices are available on everyday essentials from cupboard staples to household basics, while Aldi Price Match offers customers hundreds of products price matched against Aldi including great value meals for four.

The Tesco Community Fund which supports local community groups across the country with donations will work with three local causes, Foróige Eastside Doughiska, Castlegar GAA Club, and Merlin Wood Primary School. The Doughiska store will collaborate with Tesco partner FoodCloud and food sharing app OLIO, to ensure that surplus food gets redistributed in the community. The team will also join Tesco’s continued efforts to support its charity partner, Children’s Health Foundation which supports all sick children in CHI at Crumlin, Connolly, Temple St and Tallaght hospitals.
