The Little Helps Plan framework
Our sustainability and CSR strategy - our Little Helps Plan - is the framework through which we shape our long-term approach to sustainability. It sets out how we will make a positive difference to our colleagues, customers, communities, suppliers, shareholders and the environment by addressing the most pressing social and environmental issues of our time.
The Little Helps Plan enables us to demonstrate, monitor and improve our performance, both within our own operations and the wider supply chain, as we pursue transformative change and lead industry-wide action to tackle some of the biggest social and environmental challenges facing the world today.
Being a sustainable business is very important to us, as we work to a net zero target of 2035 for our own operations and a commitment to cut emissions -including those generated by the products we sell and across our supply chains - to zero by 2050, in line with the UN’s aspiration of keeping global warming below 1.5C.
We are proud to be one of few retail companies to have received the Business in the Community (BITC) Business Working Responsibly Mark in recognition of our commitments to sustainability and CSR, and are a proud signatory of the BITC Low Carbon Pledge. We are also a member of Repak and a signatory of the Repak Plastics Pledge.
Our Little Helps Plan has four key pillars:
- People – Tesco colleagues and the workers in our supply chain
- Serving customers with affordable, healthy and sustainable Product
- Supporting communities in Places where we have a stake, and
- Working in a way that protects the Planet
Meanwhile, the three values underpinning the plan are:
- No one tries harder for customers

- Every Little Help Makes a Big Difference
Our pillars focus on a number of priority areas where we are committed to doing the right thing and making a big difference. The Little Helps Plan, as with all other parts of the business, is underpinned by our Code of Business Conduct which ensures we use our values and leadership behaviours to guide our conduct and decision-making so that we are always doing the right thing for each other and the business.
We have mapped our Little Helps Plan to the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals and to provide a focus for our activity, and we also regularly engage with our stakeholders to help us to understand their evolving priorities and address the most relevant sustainability issues.
